About Green Key
The Green Key label, founded in Denmark in 1994, has become a global standard for environmental excellence in the hospitality industry. Administered by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), Green Key has certified over 5,000 establishments in 65 countries worldwide.
This program equips establishments with the tools to enhance sustainability efforts across 13 key areas, tailored for accommodations and conference venues.
Through rigorous documentation and regular on-site audits, Green Key ensures that participating facilities maintain high environmental standards. This internationally recognized eco-label is awarded to various types of tourism facilities, including hotels, hostels, campsites and more.
Achieving Green Key certification not only demonstrates a commitment to reducing environmental impact but also signifies alignment with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals 2015-2030.
About Green Key in Armenia
We are the first establishment in Armenia, which started its partnership with Green Key, making us the first official representative of this prestigious program in the country. Green Key is a globally recognized eco-label that promotes sustainable practices in the tourism industry, ensuring that hotels and other accommodations adhere to high environmental standards.
At ISSD, we believe in the importance of promoting sustainability. By partnering with Green Key, we aim to raise awareness about environmental conservation within the hospitality industry in Armenia. Our goal is to encourage hotels, accommodations and other hospitality industry representatives to adopt sustainable practices that minimize their environmental impact, conserve natural resources and promote responsible tourism.
Through Green Key Initiative, ISSD works closely with hotels and accommodations across Armenia to help them achieve Green Key certification. This process involves conducting audits, providing guidance on implementing eco-friendly practices and offering ongoing support to ensure compliance with Green Key’s standards.
By joining forces with Green Key, we are taking a significant step towards building a more sustainable future for Armenia’s tourism sector.
