Green Key's criteria include the following requirements:

  • Measures to promote biological diversity in the facility’s green areas.
  • Annual training for staff in sustainability issues.
  • Collaborations in the area of sustainability with relevant stakeholders.
  • Continuous improvement through setting and implementing annual goals.
  • Measurement and monitoring of water, electricity and energy consumption as well as waste quantities.
  • Calculation of annual greenhouse gas emissions (hotels only).
  • Source sorting in all applicable fractions.
  • Disposable articles for take away only. No plastic items are allowed
    by default.
  • Measures to reduce electricity and energy use.
  • Renewable electricity.
  • Measures to reduce food waste.
  • Measures to reduce water consumption.
